And you're listening to The Important Cinema Club. And today, we're talking about one of the

world's great funny man's Jacques Tetzie. Also, one of the bad boys of mid-century art house

cinema. Yep. Jacques Tetzti didn't make many films.

He made six, but one of them is so mythic that it is one of the great comedy films,

even though a lot of people will go, it's not laugh out loud funny, though.

But it is one of the miracles of film.

It's like you look at this movie that you're talking about and you say, the business of cinema was created to stop movies like this getting made.

And that movie is playtime, but I want to build up to it first.

Were you someone that watched Jacques Tetsy films when you were coming up and learning about cinema?

I mean,

I didn't discover

him when I was a kid, but... I don't think anybody in North America did. No. But, yeah, he was definitely somebody who, when I was in undergrad, I fell in love with. And you just came to him now. Yes. I had never watched any of his films. I think principally because

people had said stuff like

and I said, okay, you know what, I'm going to sit down

and I'm going to watch Playtime.

And oh man, did I laugh?

And this is the thing about Tetsi

is that he kind of dials in

to one of the things that is like
