Hi this is Steve. One week ago John and I recorded part one of our exploration of the

0:06.1

third man and tonight we're going to record part two. Now normally our goal is

0:10.9

to finish the whole movie in one session, even if it's a long session,

0:14.8

but sometimes due to schedule, family's work, or just plain exhaustion, we just can't get it all done.

0:20.7

But the truth is, I'm often grateful for the break because almost inevitably my

0:25.3

perspective on a film evolves after we talk about it. Largely this is because

0:30.5

John has given me so much food for thought but it's also because of the time I spent editing the first part changes the way I think about the rest of the movie.

0:39.0

And this, to me, is what makes the study of great films so rewarding because even a 70 year old movie like

0:45.5

the third man a film I've seen many times can still live and breathe and change each time I view it.

0:53.6

And so today as I prepare for part two,

0:56.0

I'm so excited to see how my perceptions of the third man

0:59.0

will continue to evolve through tonight's conversation. And for those of you who haven't seen this Noir Classic,

I highly recommend a visit decinophiles.net

1:08.0

where you can buy or stream the third man

1:10.0

and every other film we've ever reviewed before coming back on Friday to listen to

1:15.2

part two on the cinnophiles.

1:17.2

Look down there, would you really feel any pity if one of those dots stop moving forever? If I offered you 20,000 pounds for every dot that stopped,

1:28.0

would you really old man tell me to keep my money or would you calculate how many dots you could afford to spare?

1:36.3

Free of income tax. Hello and welcome once again to the cinnophiles where each week we enter the world of a great film

1:48.8

we explore its themes, the history, the filmmaking, and the influence it has on us today.
