Hi this is Steve. As most of you know, our goal with the Synophiles has always been to cover films from every era and genre.

And while we had thought we had chosen a pretty wide variety of films this year,

it was recently brought to our attention

that it's been a long time since we did a movie from before the 70s.

Now that's a big mistake, and one we intend to rectify with the 1949 noir classic Carol Reed's The Third Man

starring Joseph Cotton and the Great Orson Wells.

Now I've seen this movie many times but it's been at least 10 years

since the last time I watched, and I have to admit

to being absolutely blown away with just how complex, thrilling, and utterly compelling it still is.

This is a master class in filmmaking and it also happens to have

one of the greatest twists in movie history so if you don't want us to spoil it for
