So you were born in Long Island.

It's born in Long Island in Floral Park and now I split my time between Manhattan

and the city of Long Beach. And what was the Long Island scene like when you're going on?

It was, you know, like, you know, I guess any American suburb, Floral Park where I grew up is a Roman Catholic

stronghold.

Now of course it's also, I believe, one of America's fastest growing or largest South Asian populations.

It was partly like that when I was growing up there as well.

A lot of my closest friends are from the subcontinent from India

And I grew up eating a lot of good Indian food because I grew up in Flora Park and so I remember when I first went to Washington, D.C.

just where I went to school, I went to G. W. U. and I really craved good Indian food

when I went to D.C. and that's what I missed about Flower Park.

So you're always kind of into food.

Of course. I mean, we all got to eat right?

And then you also got some international exposure in terms of you traveled to Russia. Right. In fact,

this is the anniversary. It was 18 years ago today, I believe, 1996. At this time, I was on a plane

from JFK to S. V.O. Sharamehava Airport in Moscow. That was the first time I ever left the country. And that was again 18 years ago today.

It was part of an exchange program from my high school, Far Park Memorial. And they sent us to Star City, Russia, for three weeks.

Some schools had exchange programs to France and

Switzerland and other nice places. They sent us to Russia. So be it. It was a way to get
