I'm Erin Scala and here's our show today. Oh, So my dad, he's an interesting guy. He was a formula race car driver, a medic in the Vietnam

War, a playwright, he rides a Harley today and he only drinks

Grand Munier. And he has some pretty incredible stories. In this dad tale he tells the story about when he got not one but two free meals after making

it home from Vietnam.

We drank a lot of beer at college and I used to go into the Gaslight restaurant and that was where I was

dating my first wife Kathy and we consumed quite a lot of beer and one time it said half beer for redheads.

Well I thought I was a redhead, but it was kind of Auburn, you know, and the proprietor, who was British or thought he was British said you're not a redhead

you'll have to pay the full price. I said they've been calling me red for years what are you talking about so yeah I

paid the full price for for beer we did that every weekend. We go to the Gaslight restaurant in

Charlottesville, Virginia. And the proprietor, who was a good friend, he would play God Save the Queen at 2 o'clock in the morning. So we thought

he was British and he had all these British people come in and I wasn't British but when I was going to Vietnam, he said, when you come back from Vietnam,

you can have anything you want on the manual, give you the best of everything. So I didn't

think I was coming back, but anyway I did come back. And Kathy and I went and John Tuck is the proprietor.

And he said, oh, I'm glad you're here.

I ordered full course.

uh, you know, Grand Manier.

Beer, champagne.

And he gave us everything,
