Summary

By now you’ve probably heard of The Sculpt Society, a dance-based fitness method with a cult-like following. Over the pandemic, it grew astronomically — more than 700 percent (!) — as many of us leaned into at-home fitness. Today on the show, I’m chatting with The Sculpt Society founder Megan Roup. Growing up in California, Megan started dancing at a young age and went through her fair share of hurdles on her way to New York University's Tisch School of The Arts.

In episode 150, we talk about the pressures that came hand in hand with trying to make it as a dancer, including struggling with disordered eating and getting to a place where she felt truly comfortable in her body. We also chat about her stint as a Brooklyn Nets dancer and how her love for dance-based fitness actually started as a side hustle when she was running around New York auditioning for new opportunities. Megan also shares what 2020 was like for her, an eventful year in her personal life as well with a wedding, a baby on the way, and more. We also cover what the uptick in The Sculpt Society users taught her about herself as an entrepreneur and the need to prioritize self care.

Spoiler: We both cry in this episode, so yeah … that doesn’t happen often on the show. BUT, in this case it doesn’t surprise me. There’s a lot of emotions that happen when two passionate people sit down to talk about their why.
