The Hello and welcome to 15 Days of Festive Fear 2025 and we are on day number 12.

And I have one story for you today and our story comes from Caitlin.

I'll start with my own story first.

It really is just a blip on the radar.

I babysat for a family that lived in a beautiful early 1800s farmhouse.

They kept everything original that they possibly could and during the day it was stunning.

It had a bunch of windows that let in tons of natural light during

the day. Beautiful views of all the livestock surrounding the home. Simple and inviting

architecture. No cell service. Spotty Wi-Fi, I enjoy being unreachable. Original flooring

that had gaps showing the room below was charming when the sun was up.

But at night, in a dark house, watching the light suddenly seep into the kitchen from the

cellar below, after all the kids have been tucked into bed and you're the only soul left

awake in the house?

No, thanks. I didn't feel anything

terrible, but it was enough that I accepted no more overnight opportunities there.

Now, on to the story that made me feel true fear. To set the scene, it was 2020, and I was a few

months into my dream job at the time,

working six days a week, grooming some of the top American saddlebreads and hackney ponies in the US.

It was summer, mid-show season, meaning much of our time was spent on the road.

But home base in between shows was a property full of history.

Nestled into the hills of Boone County is the birthplace of Tom Bass.
