Yeah. Go. Hello and welcome back to Surf Splendor. This is David Scales, wishing you the happiest of New Year's. I'm actually recording this on New Year's Eve. So the odds are that by the time you're listening to it, it's actually 2017. I hope that Christmas went well for you.

Since our last show, Michel Berez won the Pipe Masters, John John Florence, won the Triple

Crown, Jamie Mitchell won the Nazare Challenge.

In reference to the predictions that I made for the Pipe Masters, I was somewhat far off, not surprisingly.

It's a super difficult event to predict.

The waves really never showed up, rather than being kind of classic pipeline, people going left.

The event ran in marginal conditions and mostly head-high rights at backdoor, hardly barreling, especially in

the early rounds. It was more rippable, almost like lowers or something. It actually looked

super-duper fun to surf, not necessarily ideal for, you know, the final event of the season.

But the event was really just kind of a perfect representation

for what the entire 2016 season was, complete with the world champs being beaten by rookies,

pipe masters losing in early rounds, and even a rookie making the final. I predicted that Gabriel Medina would
