Today I'm going to talk to you about one of my favorite passages, and that's Romans 5, 1 through 5.

Sometimes a passage of scripture can really speak to us in particular circumstances,

but then we move on, and then we stumble on it again, and it's just, it's an old friend, and it's like,

yes, how could I've forgotten about this one? But there are so many others that we go to and apply so often,

but God's Word is living and active, so it's feeding us and challenging us and leading us and teaching us

always, and we discover and rediscover truths all our lives long. Not that we forget them,

but it's possible we might. And so being finite creatures, it's very difficult to have them all before us all the time,

but at any rate, here it is, Romans 5, the first five verses. Therefore, having been justified by faith,

we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom also we have access by faith

into this grace in which we stand and rejoice in hope of the glory of God. And not only that,

but we also glory and tribulations, knowing that tribulation produces perseverance and perseverance

character and character hope. Now hope does not disappoint because the love of God has been poured out

into our hearts by the Holy Spirit who is given to us. I'm sure a preacher could, and probably many

preachers have spent weeks preaching through this passage. It's so rich and we could spend our

lives just meditating on it and never get to the end of it. So my goal today is just to take a

wee look at some of the encouragement it can provide for us when we're in troubling times.

The first amazing thing is that we have peace with God through Christ. Christ has made us a way

and we have been put right with God through the Lord Jesus Christ. We should spend all our lives

rejoicing in this stupendous fact. And as a result of our new status in Christ, we have access

to the grace of God by faith. God's grace was not available to us in this same way as long as we

were in the state of unforgiveness. Now we have been adopted. We have been transferred to his
