Welcome back to Corpus delicti.

We are head first end this delayed justice series.

And I don't know about you, Lindsay, but I have never been so mad for so long.

Yeah, between the several cases that we've covered, the Daryl Hunt story, between right now,

not, you know, having any election results, you know, it's a whole thing, which when we're

recording this, just to provide some

humor and look back on this, by the time this episode comes out, the election should be

resolved. But right now, it's 24 hours later. And it is not. And that's all we'll say on the

topic, but, you know, things are interesting. That and Lindsay and I have not slept because

I have been glued to the television and I've been yelling at the television. So anyway,

enough about that because that is not why we're here, but of course it's, you know, like we said,

it's a historical moment. So,

but tonight's story for the delayed justice series is very, very different than any of the

others we've talked about. It's got a big twist at the end that researching it, I did not

see coming. And so we are excited to jump into this one with you.

This week's story begins on October 13th, 1997 in Lawrenceville, Illinois.

Julie Ray, and just to be clear, she does go by Harper now, so it's Julie Harper, had visitation of her son that weekend.

Now she and her ex-husband, Lynn Kirkpatrick, had a pretty rough divorce,

and Lynn had Joel most of the time as Julie had gone back to school.

So that night on October 13th, Julie was awakened in the middle of the night to the sound of her 10-year-old son, Joel, screaming.
