Welcome back to what is going to be a special episode. It's part one,

episode one of a series that we're going to run here basically until we're done I have no idea how long the

series is going to take it could be a couple episodes it could be 15 episodes

Cody I mean we we really have no idea what we're doing but the idea behind this is for the

last few years many people have asked me Ben are you going to do an update to

your backpicks top 40.

And if you're not familiar with the backpicks top 40,

it is a series I put out many years ago.

I started it in 2017, I guess technically I think at the end of 2016 I started working on the pilot article which was about Wilt Chamberlain and the idea behind that series was to basically try to create a list of the best careers.

You know we talk about a goat list.

This was really a boat list but no one uses that acronym so the idea was to try to

evaluate all these players season by season and get an understanding of you know how

much does longevity matter how much does a high peak matter, how do these things stack up based on these player estimations.

That's been sitting there for years waiting to be updated, and that's what this series is going to be it is going to be an update so we can

correct all of the wrongs of the original top 40 and really it's you know four or five years have gone by since I did this work

I've been able to get access to a ton more games a ton of old footage for players from the

60s and 70s I've updated my process as an analyst so we're

going to talk about all that stuff as we go through the series. Cody is here in
