| 0:01.3 | Welcome to the Fit, Healthy and Happy Podcast. |
| 0:04.0 | I'm your host, Josh, here with my co-host. KG in the house. But today we're going to be talking about 10 fitness habits that you need to start doing in 2020 in 10 minutes. So there's a little bit of a challenge. I'm a little worried for ourselves. But that's it. I'm already wasting time. Let's get into it. So tip number one I have for people is actually do some cardio or lift some weights. And what I mean by that super quick is people like to really be on one side of the fence or the other and they're really scared of the other fence. You know, myself included. It's like, oh, cardio, I want to be big and muscular and strong. I don't want to do cardio, but cardio is so great for heart health. Where at the same time, you know, people that only do cardio, like have a client that's |
| 0:40.3 | on cardio his whole life, like have a client that's on cardio's |
| 0:40.8 | his whole life. He's in his 60s and he just started to lift weights and do strength training. And he just keeps saying, I wish I did this as a runner. Like I feel so much stronger, looser, more powerful. you know like it just he said the value of this would have been insane so that's number one |
| 0:55.0 | yeah the point is is just to combine both combine both them. It's not one or the other. I think 98% of people make the mistake. So yeah, combine them both. Number two is try a different avenue of fitness that makes you feel uncomfortable. You know, the biggest thing is, you want to get excited about working out again. You want to have something to work towards. Pick one thing this year that is just going to make you feel uncomfortable, whether it's you want to learn how to deadlift, whether it's you want to go for a 10K run or do something, just to get that spark going. Like there's no better feeling than doing something that you've never done before. So do that this year and uh, and give it a try. |
| 1:27.7 | Yeah, even for me like I've been really trying to think on the longevity and general strength and health. You know, like my neck always is so tight and jacked up. I think because I'm tightening, uh, typing, texting all these things. So I've been trying to learn more, you know, good neck movements, trying to do shrugs so you know because they say motion is lotion uh for muscles so things like that you know |
| 1:48.1 | like things so i've been trying to learn more you know good neck movements trying to do shrugs so you know because they say motion is lotion uh for muscles so things like that you know like that's been an investment of mine that i've kind of neglected before and maybe for you it's that once again that strength training or doing a lot of cardio training or doing fun variants of that so or you know it could even be yoga just try something different and even if you hate it jitsu boxing whatever like at least you have a new experience i'm to get excited about me and |
| 2:04.7 | kyle did boxing for a really short stent uh you know it's fun so yeah number three is eat more |
| 2:10.4 | protein if you're wondering what i mean by that watch our episode on how much protein should you |
| 2:14.7 | actually be eating uh that's a huge episode maybe while i'm talking k, Kyle, can find the number. But case in point, protein is a key. And study after study has shown that by eating more protein, you know, you're going to feel more satisfied with your food. You're going to feel more energized. You know, it's going to help you maintain your muscularity and prove that muscularity. So it's definitely something you want to double down on. Episode number 133, check it out. All right, what's number four? We're killing it. We're like three minutes in already. This is awesome. I love it. Yeah, we're not wasting time here. This is just a nice quick guide to give you some more, I guess, just accountability for the rest of the year. I and I'd say definitely you |
| 2:52.1 | want to hire a coach even if it's only like for a two or three month term the amount of value that |
| 2:56.2 | you'll get I always tell people when they sign up is literally five to 10 probably even more than |
| 3:00.1 | that times worth the investment that they make. It's so important you know we're going to help you |
| 3:04.7 | find just like the actual reason you're working out try different things fix your form you know give you actual to help you find just like the actual reason you're working out |
| 3:07.6 | try different things fix your form you know give you actual purpose help you with your nutrition |
| 3:11.9 | and you know if it's not that serious for you i would say get an accountability partner find |
| 3:16.6 | someone at work find someone that can just hold you accountable whether it's your girlfriend |
| 3:19.9 | your wife your husband your boyfriend whatever it is you know a buddy of yours, just to hold each other accountable. |
| 3:25.0 | I mean, it's a new year. |
| 3:26.1 | You know, you've got new goals. |
| 3:27.1 | You're ready to crush it. So just get some outside accountability. I would recommend a coach, but an accountability partner definitely works as well. Yeah, I wish I had a coach back when I started. I probably wasted three years. I could have condensed that into one year with what I know now, but, you know, obviously, I was working out with people. |
