Summary

In today's episode of Mailbox Monday we go over when to take your supplements, how to deal with negativity in your fitness journey, how to know when to use a spot, and so much more.
Josh quote: "Be always at war with your vices, at peace with your neighbours, and let each year find you a better person." - Benjamin Franklin

Kyle quote: “The grind doesn't know what day of the week it is. Time doesn’t take a day off” & “Sometimes you need to fall off the wagon to get back again”

  1. How do you deal with negativity about change in your fitness journey?
  2. How do we know we recover properly? How did you know that you're program was too much?
  3. If you’re doing 10 reps and need a spot on some, at what point do you lower the weight? If you need help on the last 2, or last 3,or last 4? When is it better to do a lower weight with more reps or higher weight with some help?
  4. How much water should you be drinking?
  5. I love your podcast and the content y’all put out and I wish I could leave you a review but I have spotify. Every morning when I come into work I’ll binge probably 10 episodes!
  6. I wanted to ask you a question regarding supplements. I wanted to know if you think there is an optimal time of day to take supplements. I regularly take multi vitamins, CLA, green tea extract, omega 3s first thing in the morning. I've talked to other people and I notice some would take supplements during a meal in the middle of the day or a different time of day. I've always taken it in the morning so I don't forget. Am I missing out on any benefits by not taking it at a different time?

Love that. Yeah, let's just kind of jump right into it here. Hopefully you guys are on the same page, but if not. I love energy. I didn't know where to go from there clearly. I want to see this time of the year, what days is this coming out? This is on the 6th. I mean, that's when I think a lot of people are jumping back in the gym you'll see the busy the gym's very busy and honestly you know while we talked a lot about resolutions and like how we don't like just started on the first i just want to say like you know it's a great time of the year to like white the you know just get a fresh lake going and just like really refocus on everything you're trying to it's a new year it's a new decade so I'm ready to add value and help all of you out

1:00.1

i was a little disappointed today's the second I you know I expected the gym to be super nasty busy

1:05.2

yeah it's pretty dead like I feel like people kind of write this week off yeah um you know

1:10.2

which is too bad and if you're really looking to make change, you may as well do it today. What's her to wait? But we're not going to beat on that anymore. It's a new year, new everyone. What's your quote to start the year? So my quote is something I'm actually very prepared this time. So I've been starting every week now with writing my quote and putting

1:28.1

it into my little tracking system here. So what I have here is it says the grind doesn't know what day

1:33.7

of the week it is. Time doesn't take a day off. And I've just been watching a lot of David

1:39.3

Goggins things recently. Like he has a lot of great Instagram clips. You can go to his

1:44.4

Instagram and for me lately, it's just been really firing me up and it just kind of has resonated with me because I got the first quote from like, I heard it a long time ago. I don't remember where it was. And then someone commented on one of his videos saying time doesn't take a day off. So I kind of pieced it together. And I just think that, you know, there's 365 five days in the year. You know, a lot of times people are taking like two weeks off of here and then three weeks here. And then just like at the end of the day, the grind really doesn't know what day it is, whether it's Sunday, whether it's Monday. You know, you always still got to be putting in the work one day or another. And this can go for fitness, business, you know know anything like that but um yeah it's just

2:18.3

always got to be hustling and staying on on track with everything and you know um not taking too

2:23.1

much time off in my opinion fire me up all right going right into my quote for the year um just

2:29.6

gonna go ahead and pull that sucker up right here do do, so I actually got a quote from your boy Benjamin

2:35.8

and Frankman. I'm kind of taking it back here, but that is a pretty applicable quote. So his quote was

2:41.2

be always at war with your vices, at peace with your neighbors, and let each year find you a better person.

2:48.1

I thought that was pretty fitting for the new year here. And the reason I really like that is I think a lot of clients this week, it was a big battle for them, you know, against their vices. And, you know, oh, my vices, I drink too much over the holidays or I eat too much over the holidays or I can't find myself to get to the gym or, you know, maybe your vices that you're not able to take some time off, delode, heal up, you know, and kind of fill that emotional tank.

But, you know,
