The subject today is friendship. And I know I've hit this before, so I'm hoping to spread

it out maybe a little further. And Christian women of all ages enjoy friends. I mean,

young daughters enjoy friends. All our lives, of course, we want friends. We're social creatures

and we live in community. This is a designed feature. And a friend is a wonderful thing.

But we should obviously exercise wisdom, caution, and discretion when it comes to friendships.

So here are a few observations about Christian friendship. Proverbs 1226, the righteous should

choose his friends carefully. And I would say the first thing we should note is the righteous.

Because if you're unrighteous, then righteous people aren't going to want to be friends with you

exactly, except unless they're trying to bring you along and they're trying to be friends you

in order to introduce you to righteousness, of course. But the righteous should choose his friends

carefully. Don't just fall into friendships. Just be aware of that. And notice that word choose

friends. It means that you're being careful. And because you're righteous, you understand the

importance of having righteous friends. What are the qualities you should be looking for in a friend?

And what qualities should you avoid? When I think especially when you move to a new community,

you need to be very wise about choosing your friends and not just falling into them.

Friendships, new and old, are always in flux. So we have to always be paying attention. No

coasting. If an old friend begins to veer off into unrighteousness, then it may be time to move on.

But a good friend over many years is a blessing because we encourage one another and we bring one

another back if necessary as much as possible. You should be looking for an honest friend and avoiding
