In part 4 we discussed in detail the things going on leading up to Zachary's birth,

how his mother was attempting to control all decisions that were

being made regarding Zachary's care and his future, should she be sent to trial

in the United States for Andrew Bagby's murder.

We also went into some of the aftermath

in regards to what Child Protective Services did

and did not do when it came to the investigation into Shirley and how that had an impact on how this story would end.

There's lots of blaming, lots of finger pointing, but there's plenty to go around here in this story.

We are going to pick back up starting with the birth of Zachary Turner.

Again, much of this information was retrieved from the Turner Review and Investigation from September of 2006 by the

Newfoundland and Labrador Child and Youth Advocates Delegates. Zachary Andrew Turner, he was given his father's name as his middle, was born at the Health Sciences Center in St. John's on July 18th, 2002.

He was in good health. He weighed 8.5 pounds or 3.8 kilograms.

His delivery was a little difficult and he was delivered by C-section.

And among the first who arrived to see him were his paternal grandparents, Kathleen and David Bagby, and they

arrived bearing gifts. Shirley denied them permission to see Zachary, so they left the presence with a staff member and went home.
