| 0:11.0 | So Match of the Gathering first appeared in August of 1993 in a set that, originally was called Limited, I guess, Metron the Gathering Limited, |

| 0:23.9 | what we now refer to as Alpha and Beta. |
| 0:26.4 | Basically, what happened is they put out, |
| 0:29.5 | they made what they thought was enough for like a year, |

| 0:33.5 | then they made another set, |
| 0:34.4 | which I thought was enough for a year, sold out in a week. |
| 0:37.3 | Alpha is very similar to beta. |
| 0:39.4 | There's two cards that were missing from Alpha, Circle Protection Black and Volcanic Island. |
| 0:45.1 | Those got added, and then they added one more art for each basic land in beta, |
| 0:49.1 | just so they could say, I think, over 300 cards on the advertising and stuff. |
| 0:54.7 | But anyway, one of the things I want to talk about today is there's a lot of charm in |
| 0:59.2 | Alpha. |
| 0:59.7 | There's a lot of quirky things in Alpha. |
| 1:02.4 | So I want to walk through and just talk about some of the things when the game began, |
