Summary

The Running Channel podcast trio are reunited once again as they dive into the classic holiday dilemma: to run or to rest? Everyone has their own personal preference - for some, running shoes are the first thing packed; for others, they're swapped out for sandals! In this week’s episode, the team explores how to strike a balance between enjoying a relaxing holiday and keeping up with training.

Rick’s Challenge sees him testing out a cool new camera set to be released soon by Insta360. Sarah and Andy can’t wait to see what Rick comes back with!

The Running Channel Podcast  tackles one big topic each episode, amongst helpful tips and light-hearted chat on the latest news in the running world. Hosted by Sarah Hartley (amateur runner) and Andy Baddeley (former pro runner) alongside Rick Kelsey (recovering runner), the TRC Podcast is friendly, jargon-free, and the perfect accompaniment to your runs.

But better than that, we're in the top 20 for the British Podcast Awards as voted by you. Yes, that is down to you. Thank you so much for all your votes. But you know, now we've made top 20. Oh, I want a taste of top 10. We're up against some really big hitters and we're incredibly grateful for everyone that has voted because as we've said, there's a conspiracy against the running channel. It's actually quite hard to find us in the menu to, in order to vote for us. Yeah, it is. So let's give a little congratulation to all of you that managed to vote for us. But the votes are still open until September. So if you'd like to support us and the podcast, we would massively appreciate it. So please, please go and find the British podcast awards and vote for us in the listener's choice category because we've hopefully got a real chance of doing really well. Yeah, we will not rest until we're number one. Okay. We don't know where we are in the top 20. We could be just scraped in. We're like 19th or 20. I reckon we're actually 21st. They just squeezed us in. Someone else dropped out. Still pretty good. But I'm really excited. I said before this. I was quite emotional just before recording. We are back. We haven't seen you guys in ages. Yeah. We recorded a couple of podcasts slightly out of sequence, and then I missed last week. So you did an amazing one with Sean about caffeine, which is brilliant. Yeah. Really long as well, guys. So you waffled on a little bit. Speaking about long intro. This is a very long intro. Sorry, we've been on holiday. Rick and I in particular have been on long family holidays and had the dilemma of which shoes to pack and whether or not we should in fact run on holiday or whether to take a well-earned rest. And that's a dilemma that lots of runners face. So that's what we're going to talk about in today's episode. Yeah, we're going to share our tips for running on holiday

2:20.3

as well. It might be the perfect time to rest. And in fact, taking some proper rest on

2:24.0

holiday might be the best solution. It might just be, but first, I've got something special

2:29.2

for you. Right, okay, the amount of prep time that Rick has needed for that, and also the restraint

of me and Andy to not look over.

2:41.8

Yeah, I thought he was getting changed or getting naked or something.

2:44.1

He was like, don't look, don't look.

2:45.5

And then we just heard groans and mutterings of, oh my goodness, what's the kid's done.

2:59.6

Yeah, so I went to Park Run last week and Spreadsheet Chris, who runs Hell's Fire Park Run in North London. Yeah.

3:00.6

I think we should just call it sort of slightly warm park run or like, you know, gently smoldering.

3:06.6

Oh my gosh, you know what hard is it you know how some

3:09.2

people who love baking in their house yeah have those like warming drawers yes oh yeah that's what it is

3:14.6

it's like a proving it's a proving well maybe if it was only a proving or slightly warm you wouldn't
