You can be right in the moment… and still be really wrong in the pattern.

Today’s episode is a call to honesty.
Not about whether a single choice “matters” but whether the pattern it belongs to is quietly killing your progress.

Because here’s the trap:
We justify what’s familiar.
We rationalize what’s comfortable.
We talk ourselves into “one more time” like it’s no big deal.

But over and over again, we’re protecting the very behavior that’s holding us back.

Inside this episode:

  • Why “familiar” is not the same thing as “neutral”

  • The hidden cost of being “right” in the moment

  • A powerful lens to recognize when a pattern needs to be broken — even if the choice seems harmless

  • The one question you must ask when justifying a pattern

🔥 This is the kind of honesty that moves the needle. Let’s go.

If you want to be more consistent, you're in the right place. I'm Elizabeth Benton. Welcome to

0:07.1

Consistent, a podcast by Primal Potential that is for all of you who feel frustrated by your lack of

0:13.3

progress or overwhelmed by all the change that you want to make in your life. Here, we stop frantically

0:20.5

chasing new habits and start

0:22.6

strategically building a structure of consistency. Let's get into it.

0:29.1

Hello, everybody. Welcome back to the Primal Potential podcast. You are probably not used to

0:35.6

hearing from me on a Tuesday, but that is because this week

0:39.8

we are in our pivot point campaign. We are halfway through, nearly halfway through,

0:47.6

2025. And like I said yesterday, if you didn't listen to day one, please go back and listen.

0:52.6

But like I said yesterday, at this time of year, we typically see one of two things.

0:58.2

Either we buckle down and say we need to get back to basics and we're reformulating and

1:05.1

setting new goals and adjusting the targets based on the fact that maybe we didn't exactly

1:10.1

crush the first five and a half

1:11.6

months of the year. Or we get discouraged, we start to drift, disengage even more, and then

1:19.8

maybe we wake up come fall time, and that's when our new plan comes in. And I don't want you

1:24.4

to take either approach. If you didn't listen to day one,

1:28.2

again, please go back and do that. But we are doing five days, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday,

1:32.8

Thursday, Friday of this pivot point campaign that's not about a new plan. It is about

1:38.3

fixing the parts that are broken because the parts that are broken mess up every plan, every time, and then we think that the next

1:48.0

new attempt is somehow going to be different, but we haven't addressed what keeps throwing

1:53.0

us off. So let's get into day two. This one might be a little uncomfortable, but that's a good thing,

1:58.5

because if it feels the way everything else feels, then it's probably not doing anything that everything else hasn't done before.
