Summary

If your routine only works when life is calm and controlled… it’s not a routine. It’s a trap.

In today’s episode, we’re diving into one of the biggest blocks to progress: the belief that consistency isn’t possible when life is unpredictable. Whether it’s school breaks, travel, toddler wake-ups, late meetings, or just the everyday chaos—this episode is here to help you build something that works in real life, not just in ideal conditions.

We’ll walk through:

  • Why your chaos might be more predictable than you think

  • How to stop starting over every time life changes

  • What “anchor habits” are—and how to build your own

  • Real examples from clients and my own routine

  • The shift from “all or nothing” to “always something”

Plus, I’ll introduce you to a brand new tool inside The Consistency Course that can help coach you through your disruptors, anytime, anywhere.

Consistent, a podcast by Primal Potential that is for all of you who feel frustrated by your lack of

0:13.3

progress or overwhelmed by all the change that you want to make in your life. Here, we stop frantically

0:20.5

chasing new habits and start

0:22.6

strategically building a structure of consistency. Let's get into it.

Hello, everybody. Welcome back to the primal potential podcast. I am Elizabeth Benton.

Thanks so much for joining me today. And I wanted to kick off with

0:38.4

something that I've been hearing again and again and again. It's come up, oh gosh, a lot inside the

0:44.7

check-ins I do with the consistency course. So basically every week we have a check-in where folks

0:49.2

are telling me kind of what's good, what's hard, where do you need support, what's working,

0:54.0

where do we need to change what's working, where do we

0:54.6

need to change the course, how can we collaborate together? And it allows me to have a lot of

0:59.6

really important conversations that help people break through where they feel limited or stuck.

1:07.3

And this time of year is notorious for things like, let's just, we've had back to back

1:13.8

graduations and weddings, right? And that can throw us out of consistency, but it doesn't have

1:19.5

to. Things are harder now because the kids are out of school. And so my schedule is totally

1:25.2

off or we're traveling for a wedding. We have a vacation and so I'm out of my

1:31.0

routine and that makes things feel hard. And then there are just things that come up regularly like

1:35.8

my toddler's been waking up earlier than normal. And so what had been working for me isn't

1:40.6

working for me anymore. This time of year in particular can feel very unpredictable.

1:48.0

Summer hits. We're outside more. We're away from home more. There's more beach days. There's more

1:53.7

barbecues. There's more graduations. Routines shift. The kids are home. There's camp.
