Hello and welcome to the Teen Life Coach podcast. I'm your host Sammy and today we are talking about teen sleep.

Hey everyone, welcome to the podcast today. I just got back from a week-long trip for fall break, and we went to my niece's wedding

and saw lots of family, and we saw so many friends that I hadn't seen in a very long time.

And so it was very good, very amazing.

Now, I am back and back to work and back to recording this week's podcast.

So today, I wanted to talk about sleep with you guys, all right? The data on sleep in teens says that 75% of teens are not

getting enough sleep. Okay, big surprise, right? You all know you are not getting enough sleep,

right? And then during the pandemic, your sleep just got all crazy, okay? Lots of you had lots of

sleeping problems during the pandemic. Okay. Thank you COVID for more sleep problems, right?

So I'm pretty sure you guys already know that you are not getting enough sleep. Okay,

you don't need me to tell you that. If you don't know if you're getting enough sleep, the data

and the research suggests that if you're in between the ages of 13 and 18, you should be getting

anywhere between 8 and 10 hours of sleep in a 24-hour period.

And sleep is personal to each of us, and we are all different.

We all have our own natural body rhythms, but on average, teens need about nine hours

of sleep each night to feel alert and feel well rested, okay?

And one common problem I hear about a lot from you guys

is that you have trouble falling asleep, which I'm going to cover that next week on the podcast.
