Protests against police violence, violence that has turned deadly far too often

raged this past summer following the murder of George

Floyd at the hands of a cop.

This came a couple of months after the killing of Brianna Taylor at the hands of police police and a few months before the police violence that targeted

Jacob Blake and those are only three names of hundreds of black Americans who are shot and the

164 killed by police in only the first eight months of last year of

2020. The outrage at racialized police violence led to discussions of

defunding the police, if not abolishing

them altogether and starting anew when it comes to serving the public safety and security.

The solution it would seem would be some level of police or law enforcement reform or justice reform in general,

if not an entirely new alternative form of working with the public when it comes to policing.

Or you can just make those protests illegal that will solve the problem.

And making protests illegal may be a lot easier now that those who would oppose such restrictions

on protests are shell-shocked by the events of January 6th at the U.S. Capitol.

For years the Wright has been trying to stifle protest and dissent and they may finally get their way if legislation in several states actually gets passed. We'll learn all about the attempts to limit protest in a few when we speak with reporters
