In this episode, I want to talk to you about preaching advice I would give to my younger self if I had the opportunity.

Over the years, I've done interviews with pastors and preachers.

These conversations have been biographical primarily about their life, faith, and ministry.

But whatever those discussions are, and of course, they trail in different directions,

depending on the story of the life of the person

you are interviewing i usually tried to end those conversations with basically the same question

you have discovered a time machine you're able to go back 20 years 25 years however long it is and have a conversation with

your younger preaching self what would this version of yourself say to the younger version of yourself, say to the younger version of yourself. In this podcast, I want to kind of

turn that question around and answer it for myself. What would be the things that I would say to my younger self if I could have a back to the future moment

and encounter young H.B. Charles Jr. as he's beginning his formal public ministry.

I concede that this is a tricky question and it to some degree may be inappropriate.

One of the best answers I ever got to that question was really a non-answer.

I asked this question to one preacher who basically said that he would not go back and

change anything if he had an opportunity because all of the circumstances of his life and

ministry, the good, the bad and the ugly ugly were a part of God's providential work

to get him to the place of devotion and maturity and fruitfulness that he was presently in.

And that if you go back and just start piecing out the areas of life, changing the things that you think should be different or better or altered

you you get in the way of of how god providentially works uniquely in the life of the believer

that's great great great non answer answer and it's I believe absolutely
