In this episode, I want to talk to you about things I've learned along the way.

Some years ago, I began jotting in my phone notes of principles, lessons, truths, opinions, perspectives, experiences, etc. that I've learned over the

course of my life and ministry. I didn't do it with any particular agenda as to what I would do

with the list, but I caught myself regularly jotting things into this list

I remember being in the car with one of my friends and at some point in the conversation I said

yeah I should add that to the list what list I told him about the list he laughed and

I determined that day that this would lit would just be a list between me myself and I that I wouldn't share this list with anyone but eventually I did I was hoping to post the list on my blog if I could reach 25 things I learned

over the course of the years. But the list grew much, much longer than that. It might have ended up

being more than 100 items on the list. I would later publish this

list at the end of my book on pastoring, which I would commend to you if you have not read it

before. And in this episode, I just want to selectively pick some of the items from that list

and talk to you about them they're just a plain list is a plain list in in the book

maybe one or two sentences added to a couple of the items to help with clarity.

But in this episode, I'm just going to pick some, particularly someone preaching and just talk

about those things I've learned along the way.

For the most part, there are no biblical chapters and verses related to the tips in this list these are

not the words of the living god these are the thoughts of a preacher who has been at it for

at this point more than 30 years of pastoral ministry but i hope it will be helpful to you. I trust, God willing,

that somewhere down the road will pick up more items on the list. But for now, let me share

with you several things I've learned along the way. Number one, faithful preaching does not guarantee church growth.
