Welcome to GrowCook Eat Arrange, the podcast of me, Sarah Raven,

0:31.4

and at the moment a series of interesting plants, people, guests.

Today, it's Gary Newell, who is our senior horticultural buyer,

0:38.7

and he's actually joined me on the podcast, this is his third time, in fact, because he is a font of plant knowledge. And I love the fact

0:45.3

that Gary's young and I'm old, and so he comes from a slightly different standpoint to me. And he is

0:51.2

someone who is really passionate, as am I, about sustainability and biodiversity

0:57.1

and gardens being places for nature and playing an incredibly important part in the whole life

1:05.8

of our planet. So welcome, Garrett. It's lovely to have you back. Thank you for having me. Looking forward to this one. Good. So today, Gary and I are going to chat about the year that we're in, which is the year of the coronation. And obviously, we haven't had those very often. we'd talk about sort of regal colours, so golds and coppers, and then perhaps sort of really

1:58.5

regal velvety blues and purples and the final thing is the king

2:05.0

loves nature and is very very keen on biodiversity as we all know and looking after the environment

2:11.0

and so that is perhaps the first or final theme so things that are very, very good in the garden for nature.

2:20.8

So Gary, do you want to kick off? What would be the first plant that you would think of

2:24.9

introducing into a garden to celebrate the year of the coronation?

2:29.1

Let's kick off with the golden themes. I think there's a really interesting series that we've introduced this

2:34.9

year called the Rudbechia Enchanted series. Oh yes, lovely. You've trialled them at Perch Hill last year,

2:40.6

I know, and you're really fond of them as well. There's a few really good golden varieties within

2:44.7

that series, one of which called Nightfall. Yeah. And I think the main interest to find this plant,
