It's the first of the month and there is a bill headed for almost 44 million borrowers.

At the start of the COVID-19 pandemic,

the federal government hit pause on student loans.

A Congress blocked President Joe Biden

from extending the pause again.

So today, for the first time in more than three years student loans are

gathering interest and most bills will start to be due in October. But not

everyone has the exact same due date that depends on the loan. Most bills will be the same as they

were before the pandemic pause.

Borrows can expect to get their bill with payment amount and due date at

least three weeks before it's due. The Biden administration wants to make it harder to buy

and sell a firearm at a gun show. The Justice Department is proposing a new rule

that would mean anyone selling firearms at a show or online would have to do background checks on potential

buyers. It's an attempt to close the so-called gun show loophole, tightening the number of

private sellers exempt from performing background checks on buyers.
