Thursday, September 7th. Here we go again. Lawmakers on Capitol Hill have

until the end of the month to avoid a government shutdown, and Republicans in

both chambers have to navigate how to move forward with spending and policy

differences. Remember, if the government shuts down, it means federal workers

can't get paid, some benefits could be delayed,

markets could be volatile, etc.

Multiple Republican sources tell CNN how Speaker Kevin McCarthy is considering de-linking aid

for Ukraine and disaster relief funds to cater to some

conservative hardliners who are threatening as gavel. That would set up a

showdown with the White House and the Senate, including with Republicans who want to

see Ukraine aid included.

Some House Republicans are also seeking deeper spending cuts than outlined in the debt ceiling law McCarthy and President

Joe Biden brokered earlier this year.

The Senate plans to bring three bipartisan spending bills

to the floor next week.

Authorities in Pennsylvania say they've expanded their hunt

for convicted murderer Danello Cavalcante, who broke out of prison last week as they have found signs of him in the area they're searching.

There have been footprints and there have been other indicators to us that he's passed through a certain area. We've had a number of dog scent

trails that we have followed for quite some time. Police say the search has

involved hundreds of law enforcement personnel and search dogs,

including one that suffered from 90 degree heat
