Luigi Mangione's fingerprints match the ones collected at the scene of the assassination of United Healthcare's CEO.

That's what two law enforcement officials told CNN, and it's the first positive forensic match

that investigators say directly ties Mangione to the place Brian Thompson was killed one week ago.

CNN has reached out to the suspect's attorney for comments.

He's currently fighting his client's extradition to New York from Pennsylvania, and says Mangione

didn't do it.

Authorities are still searching for a possible motive, and as CNN's law enforcement analyst,

John Miller explains, they found notes police say were written by Mangione that could shed some

light. He talks about Ted Kaczynski, the Unabomber, and how if he modeled after him, a bomb in a shareholders' conference could kill innocent people.

Same on the street.

But he talks about, you know, shooting being the more precise way to take on his target.

In one line, he says, and what better way to take out the CEO than to shoot him at his own,

quote, bean counters conference?

Mangione has been charged with murder and has been denied bail.
