FBI director Chris Ray has announced'll resign at the end of the Biden administration before his tenure term is up. That's according to a statement issued by the FBI today.

President-elect Donald Trump has previously announced that he'll nominate Cash Patel for the role.

And behind the scenes, there's been a big discussion for the FBI.

One of the parts of this has been how to do an orderly transition to whoever is going to take over,

but there also was pushback from people inside this building, also from people at the FBI, which is not

normalizing what Donald Trump is doing, which is to just habitually replace FBI directors

that he doesn't like.

These people are supposed to serve 10-year terms for a reason to try to remove them from

the influence of politics.

And here, Donald Trump is now about to have his second FBI director, in this case with

Christopher Ray, pushing him out ahead of time that he takes office.
