Okay, so today it's all about a metaphor.

So those regular listeners know that I'm a huge fan of metaphors.

The reason that I like them so much is I think when you're trying to explain

something, it helps if you can compare something that they do know, that it just makes it easier

to understand the connections. And one of the metaphors that I've been searching for for a long

time was the best metaphor to describe what it is to design magic sets.

And interestingly, my wife came up with this metaphor.

I liked it so much.

I put it in an article, and I've been using it ever since.

So it is the buffet metaphor.

I'm sure some of you've heard this because it's a metaphor I like quite a bit.

So the idea of the buffet metaphor is, what is magic design like?

Magic design is like creating a buffet.

Why is that?

Well, the idea is that magic, as I often say, is not one game.

It's a game system.

It has shared rules and shared game components, but there's many, many different

ways to play. You can play limited with sealed or draft, and there's various forms of draft.
