| 0:00.0 | This is episode 1182. Welcome to the Daily Meditation Podcast and I honor you for giving yourself permission to slow down and connect to the best part of who you are. And that's the part you'll connect to today as you are |
| 0:29.8 | guided in a meditation technique as you explore compassion. I'm Mary Meckley. I share a different |
| 0:41.6 | meditation technique every day here on the podcast. |
| 0:46.0 | The techniques are always customized around a theme we explore for a full week in depth. |
| 0:56.2 | This allows you to focus on a particular quality |
| 1:01.7 | in your life to really master it. |
| 1:05.0 | And the theme for this week we're focusing on is |
| 1:10.0 | all about moods, how to keep yourself anchored in the kind of mood you want to be in. So it's easy to find your mood on someone else's agenda, |
| 1:35.0 | especially if their bad mood is rubbing off on you, |
| 1:40.0 | or news or outside events are bringing your mood down. |
| 1:49.0 | And as I record this, |
| 2:10.3 | I live in Florida in the United States and there has been a huge tropical depression circulating over the state of Texas which is right across the Gulf of Mexico from where I live in Florida. In fact, they experienced a hurricane. |
| 2:18.0 | And now the storm just keeps circulating, dumping, rain on them for days on end. |
| 2:27.0 | There are at this point, but it's likely to increase, tens of thousands of people who are displaced from their |

| 2:56.8 | thousands more. So there are all these events happening in the world at any given place in time and here you are focusing |
| 3:08.6 | on being in a good mood. So you may think you know these events are kind of interrupting your |
| 3:17.3 | weekly focus this week. I doubt you are saying that to yourself, but you may be wondering, how can I be in a good mood |
| 3:29.1 | when all these events bring me down and these images and the news and whatever else may be happening |
| 3:37.3 | in your life and in the world around you and I want to let you know that it's not always necessary to be in the best |
| 3:51.6 | most joyous mood. That's not really the goal of this series. The goal of this series is more to keep you uplifted, regardless of what's going on around you or happening to you. |
