Summary
It's our first interview ever, with our favorite human and athlete in the world! Clare Gallagher won the 2022 Leadville 100 Miler in the 5th-fastest time ever just 36 hours before we recorded the interview. A historic 100 mile win and a 75-minute podcast episode are both equal feats of endurance in our eyes. Clare is a running legend, with wins at Western States, Leadville, CCC, Black Canyon 100k, and the Way Too Cool 50k, all by age 30. But even more importantly, she is a brilliant and world-changing human who is an environmental advocate about to embark on a new journey with marine protection. We love Clare, and we know you will too!

| 0:00.0 | Woohoo! Welcome to the Summer Call Play Podcast. We are so happy to be with you today. |
| 0:05.1 | It's Tuesday. Sixth of Tuesday. |
| 0:07.2 | Freakin' Tuesday and we are extra pumped on this magical Tuesday because we got to sit down |
| 0:12.0 | and interview Claire Gallagher. I think I've been waiting for this moment for six years. |
| 0:15.8 | We've been long time friends with Claire. She's probably a favorite person to invite to dinner |
| 0:20.3 | because we'll just have these long three hour conversations with her and we got to make one of |
| 0:25.3 | these conversations a podcast episode and it was a joy. It was so much fun. We were recording |
| 0:30.8 | this after we did the episode with Claire. There's everything from Claire talking about some deep |
| 0:35.9 | philosophical things to specific things about running to Manatee Farts. This episode has it all. |
| 0:41.8 | It truly had it all. I just wanted to keep recording. She is probably 36 hours post finishing |
| 0:47.5 | Leadville where she had crushed the race and I was like, Claire, how are you being so coherent and |
| 0:53.7 | wonderful right now? I would be fully just in a soup of just fatigue and gnarliness and not |
| 1:01.1 | feeling good and she was just typical Claire being Claire and it was fun. It's wild to think about what |
| 1:05.9 | is going through her physiology right now. As she's talking to us on this podcast, if we were |
| 1:10.3 | looking at her biomarkers, her creatine kinase would probably be at a level that would require |
| 1:14.0 | hospitalization if she went into the emergency room. Every single one of those markers is off and |
| 1:18.3 | somehow Claire stepped up, talked to us for 75 minutes and right now I feel like I've taken |
| 1:23.3 | 1,000 shots of coffee and I'm ready to go crush the world so we hope you feel the same way too. |
| 1:28.1 | That's usually how we feel when we after we interact with Claire. We said this in the podcast |
| 1:32.2 | interview but after we have dinner with Claire, I need like a time to like meditate and come down |
| 1:36.8 | because I am so amped and energized that I won't be able to sleep at night and I don't take that |
| 1:41.2 | time to decompress. She's just a life force, an incredible human. She's been a mentor for me. |
