Hello Cinephile fans, this is John Roca. This week on the Cinephiles, Steve Morris and I are tackling

Clint Eastwoods' 1992 Oscar-winning masterpiece,, unforgiven.

As you all know, I am the outlaw in the Smodown,

and there's no subject I love more,

no genre of film I love more than Westerns.

And this is one of my favorites. It stars

Clean Eastwood, Gene Hackman, Morgan Freeman, Francis Fisher, Richard Harris,

Jamie Wolvet and Saul Rubenick.

It's a fantastic film that centers on this character named Will Money,

who in the past had been one of the most vicious and vile criminals in the West but gets redeemed by a woman, has two

children with her and then she passes and he's asked to go on this mission by this young kid,

young strapping kid who wants to prove who he is.

And he engages his old friend Morgan Freeman to come with him

and they try to go to this town big whiskey and take

vengeance on these two cowboys who've cut up a woman who made a joke about the

size of a man's penis which you know you should never do.

The film explores how will money goes from this pig farmer who had

abandoned his former life as a criminal to re-embracing that piece of himself and using that to exact

vengeance on Big Whiskey and Little Bill played by Jean Hackman. It's an incredible film that won best

picture in 1992 and Clint East would one best director for it as well. So sit back

relax, grab yourself a beer from the saloon. Maybe put on your cowboy hat and

your little tin star and listen to us talk about Unforgiven on the Cineophiles.
