It's that time of the week again, tangentially speaking.

This week's guest is really freaking interesting.

Dr. Tanya Lerman teaches at Stanford.

She's a psychological anthropologist.

She is interested in this place where belief and reality merge and separate and flow and

butt up against one another.

She's best known for her studies of modern day witches, charismatic Christians and psychiatrists.

She's the Watkins University professor in the anthropology department at Stanford University.

Every smart woman working on some fascinating stuff.

But before we get to that, let's talk about some things that are sort of tangentially related.

But before I even talk about it much, let me just play a piece of music for you.

This is an extraordinary piece of music.

When I first arrived in Spain back in 1989, 1990, one of the first things I noticed about

Spanish culture that really stood out to me as being notably different from American

culture was what I came to refer to as tolerance for ambiguity.

The Spanish have very high tolerance for ambiguity.

Things that in the United States we would want to nail down, define, clarify in Spain they

just sort of let it roll.

And I noticed this a lot.
