Hi this is Steve. I've known for a long time that Giant starring Rock Hudson, Elizabeth

Taylor, and James Dean in his final film was one of John's favorite movies. I probably would

have known even if we weren't friends as I've heard and

mention it often enough on the top 10 podcast of which I'm a proud subscriber.

So it was really only a question of when we were going to do the film, not if, and when a discussion about the movie came up on Twitter, it seemed natural for us to jump right in.

Of course, what John didn't know is that while he had seen Giant over and over again, I had only seen it once, and I was just a kid at the time.

So I had almost no memory of the film, and what I saw was far more complex, nuanced, and thought-provoking than I expected.

Giant is a film about great wealth and great ambition.

It's about family and the hopes, heartaches, disappointments, and transformations that all families experience.

But most of all, Giant is about the great state of Texas and the price that goes along with

that greatness.
