And we begin with a Long Island high school football coach

benched for running up the score. Plain Edge beat South Shore 61 to 13, a result so top-heavy,

it triggered NASA County's lopsided scores policy.

The rule requires a coach who beats another by more than 42 points to explain

how he or she tried to avoid getting in the end zone or through the uprights.

In this case, Coach Shaver couldn't. Plain Edge was up 35 points at the start of the fourth

quarter and he kept his best players on the field anyway. Interestingly enough, the opposing coach said he was

fine with the way the game went down.

The county, however, wasn't.

The lopsided scores policy has been in effect for three years, but this is the first time

it's been enforced for a varsity game.

Today, sports and politics will intersect when the World Series champions make a stop at

1600 Pennsylvania Avenue.

The nation's capital celebrated the National's big win with a parade on Saturday, and in a few hours the party will continue at the White House.

While champion team visits have been standard practice for most administrations,

President Trump has disinvited several winning teams after members criticized him or his

policies. And some teams and players have on their own opted not to attend for political reasons.

So far though it seems as though most of the Nationals players have accepted today's invite.
