Good morning and welcome the kid news. I'm Tori. Today is Thursday, November 1st, 2018 and we begin with the holiday that is the real origin of Halloween.

Today is All Saints Day, celebrated to many churches around the world

to honor all the Saints who don't have their own special feast day. It's also known as All Hallows Day,

so the day before was called All Hallows Eve, which was shortened to

Halloween.

It's believed All Sames Day dates all the way back to the third or fourth century. By now you've no doubt eaten way too much candy.

And while we know that's why you love Halloween,

that's also the reason your dentist definitely doesn't.

All that sugar is broken down to form acid,

which then messes with the enamel in our teeth

and can lead to cavities.

So what food is good for your pearly whites? Not what you are hoping for?

Not what you are hoping for.

Veggies, both fresh and cook, provide nutrition and fiber, but some, like carrots and broccoli,

also naturally clean our teeth, just because they require a lot of chewing.

And yes, you do still need to brush your teeth.

One of the biggest challenges facing the U next Tuesday is getting eligible voters to cast a ballot

Even with many polling places opening early and closing late over 60% of Americans who could vote didn't do so in the last midterm elections in 2014

and many said scheduling conflicts were to blame.

So now more than 44% of U.S. companies are making it really easy by giving their

employees a few paid hours or even the entire day off with pay to vote next
