| 0:31.2 | But this time we're talking about solitary bees, specifically mason bees for the most part, |
| 0:37.6 | in this vast world of bees, which we may not even realize it's as big as it is, there |
| 0:42.0 | are many different species, and all of these types are classified as either solitary or |
| 0:46.5 | social bees. |
| 0:47.5 | And social bees, like honey bees, live with thousands of others, and have very specific |
| 0:52.6 | job duties. |
| 0:54.5 | Solitary bees, on the other hand, like mason bees that we'll talk more about today, spend |
| 0:58.4 | their entire life living alone, and every female bee is considered a queen because she |
| 1:03.3 | lays eggs and all queens or worker bees. |
| 1:06.4 | And what's so neat about solitary bees? |
| 1:09.2 | They're probably already living in or around your yard. |
| 1:12.4 | And there are simple ways to attract them by creating habitats and holes or tubes for |
| 1:17.2 | them to live in, because their home is a small opening in a tree or in the ground, and |
| 1:21.9 | it can range in size from just the diameter of a wire clothes hanger up to five sixteenths |
