0:39.0 | I have been wrapping up some last minute Christmas shopping because we are about to head back east to Connecticut to see my family for Christmas. |
0:50.0 | And I will tell you, this is the first trip that I am making with my baby. He is four and a half months old. |
0:59.0 | We are doing this because he hasn't met his great grandmother who is 96, my grandma. |
1:06.0 | And I am so excited to introduce him to her. I love my grandmother so much. I'm so close to her. |
1:16.0 | And I have to tell you, I have watched my brain want to catastrophize about flying home to Connecticut and having this baby with me, having never done this before, and thinking about all the times I have been on a plane with a crying baby and realizing, oh my God, is that going to be me? |
1:34.0 | But every time it starts to do that, I just keep reminding myself, even if that happens, even if he is unhappy, the entire flight and cries, the entire flight. |
1:46.0 | I'm doing this because I cannot wait for him to meet his great grandmother. It is so amazing that he gets to do that. |
1:52.0 | So she is who I will be thinking of regardless of what happens on that flight. And there's two of them because you cannot fly directly from San Francisco to Connecticut. |
2:04.0 | Anyway, it's the holiday season. |
2:07.0 | And so so many of you are thinking about what you want, the things that you would like to have in your life because you believe that they will make you happy. |
2:19.0 | And I'm not just talking about what's in your stocking or what's under the tree. I'm talking about the things that you want in the new year that you think are going to change everything. |
2:33.0 | All the things that your brain just tells you, oh, if only I had this, then I would feel good. |
2:40.0 | And here's what I want you to know. It's so important. If you do not know how to manage your mind, if you do not know how to use the thing to feel a cycle, something will happen if you get what you want. |
2:57.0 | Your brain won't be satisfied. I'm sorry. I know this is terrible news. I had to really learn this a hard way. Your brain will not be satisfied. |
3:07.0 | Your brain will just move the goal post to the next thing that it is sure will make you happy. |
3:15.0 | And you know what? You can spend your entire life doing this. Your entire life chasing after things that you believe will make you happy. |
