The 6.8 magnitude earthquake that struck Morocco Friday has impacted at least 100,000 children.

The United Nations Children's Agency, UNICEF,

says that's according to initial reports.

The agency says relief workers are on the ground

to help provide support.

Moroccan state media says more than 2,800 people have been killed and more than 2,500 wounded.

A woman in Marrakesh, a popular tourist and economic hub that's near the Quakes epicenter

says she knew nine people that lost their lives, including a family member and her newborn.

I was terrified when I saw the house is

shaking violently, almost as if in a nightmare. I rushed back home, gathered our

clothing blankets, and prepared to sleep outside.

Also in North Africa, rescue operations are underway in Libya from Storm Daniel.

Eastern Libyan officials say the disaster brought severe rain and floods to the eastern part of the country,

sweeping entire neighborhoods into the sea. Authorities say dams collapsed,

destroying homes and roads and thousands are feared dead.
