Rescurers in Morocco are racing against the clock to find survivors in the

aftermath of Friday's powerful 6.8 magnitude

earthquake.

Moroccan state media says the disaster has killed more than 2,800 people and more than 2,500

others are injured.

One man describes the moment he rushed his family to safety.

At night there was no electricity.

We couldn't see it all.

And stones were falling on us in the dark. I hurried and luckily there was a

gate open. I helped my wife who was injured get out along with two other kids.

A Moroccan government official told CNN authorities are using helicopters to reach the worst hit areas.

The country state media says soldiers are using a bulldozer

to remove rubble blocking roads near the quake's epicenter.

Elsewhere in Northern Africa, Libya has declared three days of mourning from severe flooding from

Storm Daniel. A spokesperson for Libya's parliament government

says more than 2,000 people are feared dead, and thousands missing.

CNN has not been able to independently verify the number of deaths,

and the spokesperson did not give a source for the number of dead and missing.
