Kevin McCarthy says he won't run for Speaker again after his historic ouster from the top house job.

McCarthy served the third shortest speaker tenure in US history if you count a guy who

stepped in for just one day.

It's the first time a speaker has been ousted in this manner.

Top McCarthy ally, Congressman Patrick McHenry is now the interim speaker.

But no actual work can be done in the House until a new speaker is selected.

And there is no obvious candidate.

GOP Congressman Matt Gates who led the charge to remove McCarthy said this moments after.
