Government funding is set to expire on midnight Saturday, and Congress has yet to reach a deal on a

spending plan and Congress has yet to reach a deal on a spending plan. The House is

planning a vote tomorrow, but it's unclear what it'll be about.

Earlier today, House Speaker Kevin McCarthy met with Republicans privately.

CNN's Manu Raju breaks down the options McCarthy laid out to them.

They can move forward on a Republican plan to keep the government open,

the same plan that failed just this afternoon.

Or he said they can simply extend current government funding

with no other extraneous provisions attached and simply try to dare

Democrats to vote against it.

And he also suggested that they can accept the Senate plan which he has already said that he

opposes because of its inclusion of Ukraine aid and is not inclusion of border security money.

McCarthy didn't say whether he would try to cut a deal with Democrats, a move that could trigger

some Republicans to call a vote on the House floor to remove him as Speaker.

Senators say it could take until Monday to pass a bipartisan stopgap bill that would keep the government funded

through November 17th. GOP Senator Rand Paul is threatening to slow the

process down if his colleagues refuse to drop the bills a 6.2 billion

dollars in Ukraine aid.

Federal prosecutors brought charges against an IRS contractor,

accused of stealing and leaking former President Donald Trump's tax returns.

That's according to a source familiar with the matter.
