September 29th. The US is bracing for a government shutdown, a key vote on a last

House Republican leadership added border security provisions to win over hardliners, but it wasn't enough.

The Senate is working to pass a bipartisan stopgap bill that would keep the government open through November 17th.

It would give more aid to Ukraine and disaster relief,

but McCarthy has so far dismissed that bill and vowed not to quote surrender and negotiate with the

Senate. New York could get drenched with another round of rain today. The
