But I am recording this on Friday, May 29th, a few days after the murder of George Floyd in my city of Minneapolis. And this has been a very

painful time for Minneapolis, for George's family, for everyone in the Twin Cities. When I

first heard about this, when I was first told about it, I cried.

This was before I saw the footage, but this is so senseless. This is so much pain and anger and hurt.

And the first thing I thought, I thought back to the OJ trial, and the moment they announced

the verdict, and I was shocked about the verdict,

and I was watching TV, and I can't remember what network it was, but they're on a battered women's shelter in Chicago at the moment they announced the verdict.

Now, these were black women who had been subjected to violence at the

hands of their husbands or their partners, and they cheered. They cheered the verdict. And I could not

process it right away. I thought, these are women who have been beaten up by their husbands,

and they're cheering about a not guilty verdict on a man who killed his wife. But these were
