And our theme is 10 leadership lessons from my years at New Life.

Actually, it was in 2010 during a staff retreat that a consultant had come in,

and we were looking at the history of new life and all the staff were

there and he kind of let us in a process say what were the turning point lessons and again the church

started in 1987 so that it was 23 years old at the time and it was only recently that I went back and

looked at them again and what was so stunning to me was they were all pretty much applicable today. Now I've massaged

a little bit, but in essence, they're really the same from the year 2010. So here they are.

Ten top leadership lessons from my years at New Life. And again, it's been 30 years now. All right. Number one,

character is more important than gifting. Character is more important

than gifting. I've made more mistakes around being awed by people's gifts, resumes, educations,

experience, and their ability to get it done. And I would jump over the small things that reveal character.

And boy, have I played a deep price for that over the years?

Being really is more important than doing.

And anytime I've overlooked character because of anointing or effectiveness, boy,

it's just a, it's a long

price to pay.

And so, in other words, when little things emerge that reveal, potentially reveal something

So whether it's, they've got tent parking tickets in their glove compartment, or they're
