And we begin with Fisherman and Alaska, possibly feeling a little crabby today.

That's because the State's Department of Fish and Game has announced for the first time ever,

it will cancel the upcoming winter snow crab season in the Bering Sea.

Just a few years ago, the number of juvenile snow crabs were at record highs,

but then about 90 percent of the population mysteriously disappeared ahead of last season.

Scientists suspect warmer temperatures in recent years have forced the species to move further north

or into deeper seas. Alaska officials tell the Washington Post that they're aware of the impact

the cancellation will have on the local fishing industry, but they had to balance economic needs

with conservation. The news BTS fans feared most was confirmed early yesterday.

The group's hiatus from the stage will continue quite a while longer, so all 7 members can fulfill

their national obligation to serve in South Korea's army, according to a statement from their

record label Big Hit Music. Under South Korean law, all able-bodied men are expected to serve 18

to 21 months in the military to defend against ongoing threats from North Korea.

The decision will actually cost the country a lot of money.

The Korea Herald reports the band contributes $3.6 billion to the country's economy every year,

about the same as 26 mid-size companies. Jen is the oldest of BTS' singers, and he'll be the
