And we begin with a gym teacher in Portland, Oregon jumping on the bike bus bandwagon

in a really big way. Hundreds of kids and parents are now drafting

Sam Balto on his morning ride to Alameda Elementary. He's up front leading the pack in a neon

safety vest, riding a cargo bike and blasting pop tunes like Queens Bicycle Race from a speaker

in the back. Coach got his inspiration from bike buses in Barcelona, San Francisco and

Hood River and believes the once a week rides are a quadruple win. They get kids to school,

help with academics and physical fitness, build community and are good for the environment.

As Coach continues to turn heads with his growing pack, he's also hoping to turn the wheels

of government and get local officials to fund bike buses and walking buses just like

they do regular buses. Have you gotten your flu shot yet? Health experts say don't wait.

Infections are picking up steam and hitting schools in some parts of the country extra

hard and about a month earlier than normal. According to the CDC and CBS News, cases are

high in Texas, parts of the southeast, New York City, Washington, DC and San Diego were

almost half the student body at Patrick Henry High was out sick last week.

The flu vaccine isn't a guarantee against infection but research shows it helps keep

cases mild.

A few key kid news sports notes in college football this weekend's big battle of the undefeated

went to the underdog. Tennessee took down Alabama Saturday for the first time in 16 years.

The final score was Alabama 49, Tennessee 52, which is the most points given up by Alabama

since 1907. Extatic Tennessee fans stormed the field and took home a few souvenirs, including

the goal posts.
