What happened in Alabama this past week was kind of interesting.

Alabama has seven congressional districts.

And six of those seven are white.

Basically, we're talking about the population, primarily white, primarily black.

One is a black district that has primarily black citizens, residents in it.

Alabama's 27% black and has one congressional district. So lawsuits were filed, of course they were, saying that when the congressional districts were drawn,

which happens every 10 years pursuant to the census, what Alabama did, the legislature of Alabama, which in fact draws up the districts,

basically drew it up unfairly. Blacks didn't get representation. And it went to court and, yeah,

guess what? Yeah, no representation. You can't have 27% black population and have one district.

I mean, you draw it up to encircle black districts or white districts to make sure that those districts stay the way.

It does happen in Congress all the time when you talk about congressional districts, Hispanic districts, and white districts and black districts.

But this is so blatant.

so the lawsuits went and Alabama after losing an appellate court went back and redrew its district

same lawsuit hit still didn't do it right so after the second go round the courts have said uh-uh

that district has those districts have to be redrawn and it went out to the u.s.

Supreme Court and the US Supreme Court said to Alabama no thank you send it back to

the lower court which then appointed a master.

A master being, in this case, I think a retired federal judge to physically draw up the districts.
