Hey, fam, welcome to the free trail podcast and the conclusion of our 10-day rollout of the

Trail Runner of the Year.

Today we are joined by the 2023 winners.

The global trail running community has spoken and by an overwhelming margin.

Courtney DeWalter and Jim Walmsley have been recognized as the best at their craft,

the best trail runners alive globally and across distances. You all don't need me

to remind you of their achievements, but I will. Anyway, Courtney, potentially the greatest season

of all time, the stupefying 100-mile triple crowd of Western states, Hard Rock, and UTMB in a

single summer was the highlight, of course, but people also forget that

she had ridiculous course record performances at both Bandera and Trans Grand Canaria as well.

Jim's season, of course, was highlighted by his win and course record at UTMB, a project and

life's mission that he's been working towards for years.

He also, of course, won and broke the course records he's been working towards for years.

He also, of course, won and broke the course records at Istria by UTNB in the spring and Nice by UTMB in the fall.

Another incredible year from Jim.

I asked Jim and Courtney to come on together to recap their seasons

and share some of their favorite memories. And I'm so glad I did. It's an honor to host them
