Verse 1.

Another completely uncontroversial portion of St. Paul's writing.

Let as many bond servants as are under the yoke count their own masters worthy of all honor so that the name

of god and his doctrine may not be blasphemed and those who have believing masters let them not despise them

because they are brethren but rather serve them because those who are benefited are believers and

beloved teach and exhort these things.

Okay.

So, yeah, I don't know why the Orthodox study Bible chose that subheading.

I mean, just talk about clickbait.

But so that's not St. Paul's point.

St. Paul's point is, realistically, there were, and for as long as there was slavery,

while there's still slavery in the world, but there were Christians in these Christian

communities that St. Timothy was going to be dealing with who were slaves, who were enslaved

people.

Right? We want to were enslaved people, right?

We want to reach enslaved people with the gospel too, right?

But St. Paul is always clear, we don't reach enslaved people with the gospel so that we can start a slave rebellion, right?

So that they could kill their masters and, right?
